Distinguished Speaker: Brenda Harkavy

Brenda Harkavy is a distinguished litigator known for her advocacy on behalf of survivors of institutional misconduct, particularly focusing on cases involving women and children. It was a precedent-setting appellate decision in New York that expanded rights for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Before entering civil litigation, she served as a highly successful Special Victims Unit prosecutor, while handling cases involving sexual abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Currently, Ms. Harkavy specializes in medical malpractice, sexual abuse, and civil rights cases, with a particular passion for addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health care. Her commitment to trauma-informed legal representation, combined with her extensive experience and multiple professional recognitions, including National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, has established her as a powerful advocate for justice in complex and sensitive cases.
