Distinguished Speaker: Toni Marsh
Professor Toni Marsh is the founding director of the George Washington University paralegal studies program and an associate professor of Paralegal Studies. Professor Marsh presents on paralegals and access to justice, expanding paralegal roles, the unauthorized practice of law, and paralegals in tribal communities in the US, Ecuador, and Tanzania. A member of the DC Courts Civil Legal Reform Task Force, she is currently studying paralegal licensing around the country and in the District of Columbia

Philanthropy Event: Temple Clean Up Club
We will be joining the Temple University Clean Up Club in their mission to clean up the streets around campus in Philadelphia. Come help us as we clean up litter from a street near campus! “Leave every place better than you found it.”

Phi Alpha Delta is hosting a law school tour at Villanova on November 8th from 2 to 3 pm. The dress code is business casual. Details regarding transportation will be sent closer to the day of the tour.

AIS & PAD Panel: A.I. and the Law
This is a joint event with Temple AIS (Association for Information Systems) to discuss A.I. and the law. The panel will consist of five professionals, a faculty moderator, and two students. The panelists are Sam Sinderovsky, Jeremy Shafer, Juliana Neelbauer, Liliana Bakayoko, Deb Harding, Aditi Godbole, and Parth Patel.

Distinguished Speaker: Brenda Harkavy
Brenda Harkavy is a distinguished litigator known for her advocacy on behalf of survivors of institutional misconduct, particularly focusing on cases involving women and children. Her notable achievements include playing a key role in securing the largest sexual abuse settlement against a university in U.S. history. It was a precedent-setting appellate decision in New York that expanded rights for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Before entering civil litigation, she served as a highly successful Special Victims Unit prosecutor, while handling cases involving sexual abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Currently, Ms. Harkavy specializes in medical malpractice, sexual abuse, and civil rights cases, with a particular passion for addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health care. Her commitment to trauma-informed legal representation, combined with her extensive experience and multiple professional recognitions, including National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, has established her as a powerful advocate for justice in complex and sensitive cases.

Philabundance Notes for Sunshine
This Wednesday we will be helping “beet hunger” by creating cheerful notecards for Philabundance’s Senior Meal Box recipients! Philabundance’s Senior Meal Delivery program was launched during COVID to close the service gap and enable the provision of ample and appropriate food to seniors and medically vulnerable, disabled and homebound adults. Your uplifting messages will brighten their day, so let your creativity shine with colorful designs and fun food puns!

Distinguished Speaker: Joseph Marrone
Joseph Marrone is a partner and founder of Marrone Law Firm, LLC which is based in Center City Philadelphia. Mr. Marrone received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University and his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University. He is a criminal defense and litigation law attorney and has previously worked as a political advisor to former Governor of Pennsylvania, Edward Rendell, and was appointed Assistant City Solicitor in the Rendell administration.

Paul Sandler is a partner at Sandler & Marchesini, P.C. where is practices as a personal injury, general corporate, and business law attorney. Mr. Sandler is also a Temple Alum. At his firm, they represent clients in corporate, civil, insurance, commercial, and complex litigation.

Philanthropy Event: Salvation Army Food Pantry
Phi Alpha Delta will be volunteering in the food pantry at Salvation Army. Our tasks may include unloading donation deliveries, cleaning, organizing, and restocking the food choice pantry. This will be a quick and easy way to make a difference in our community!

Distinguished Speaker: Karima Yelverton
Karima Yeleverton is an Assistant District Attorney at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Since 2023, she has been a member of the Special Investigations Unit where she investigates weapons discharged by law enforcement, complaints of public corruption, and conducts active prosecutions of off-duty misconduct by municipal employees. She began her legal career as a clerk for the Hon. Sheila Woods-Skipper during her term as President Judge of the First Judicial District. Ms. Yeleverton also previously served as a Philadelphia Assistant Public Defender. Prior to joining the DAO, she was Assistant Solicitor to the Philadelphia Register of Wills.
This is a joint event with Women in Law and will be held in Alter A238.
